We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council as an Enforcement Support Officer in our Private Sector Housing team. The role: The main purpose of this role is to deliver support to East Suffolk residents to help tackle problems with pest infestations and associated waste and amenity issues arising in relation to residential properties across the district. This is achieved by using the full range of statutory powers available, applied in accordance with the council’s balanced enforcement policy to reduce associated health and safety risks. The work will involve educational approaches and the post holder will need to have excellent communication and problem solving skills to meet the varied circumstances likely to arise. What you will need: You will have analytical and judgement skills to resolve queries and problems as well as the ability to communicate effectively at most levels, both verbally and in writing. You are able to gather, process and share information and intelligence with appropriate partner agencies in accordance with DPA/GDPR and be able to use your own initiative and decision-making skills when required. Two ‘A’ Levels (or equivalent Level 3 qualification) in a relevant subject is essential for this post, as well as an awareness, or practical experience of legislation and standards across a broad range of regulatory, pest control, untidy land, hoarding and self-neglect, statutory nuisance or antisocial behaviour matters.
