The Mobility Engineer will play a key role in the Trust's digital operation, managing and optimizing our mobile technology infrastructure, ensuring that clinicians and all service users have secure, reliable access to mobile devices and applications that are essential for delivering high-quality patient care.
The Mobility Engineer will support the Trust's digital initiatives, enabling a mobile workforce to operate efficiently within our hospital and community settings.
The Mobility Engineer will ensure that the End User Compute Strategy is executed and that users have adequate and secure access to mobile technology.
Main duties of the job
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Mobile Device Management (MDM): Implement, configure, and manage the Trust's Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform, ensuring secure and efficient management of all mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets) used across the Trust.
2. Support & Maintenance: Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for mobile devices and associated software, addressing and resolving incidents promptly.
3. Mobility Solutions Development: Work closely with the DDaT team to identify, develop, and implement mobility solutions that enhance healthcare delivery across the Trust.
4. Security & Compliance: Ensure all mobile devices comply with NHS information governance, data protection, and cyber security policies.
5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with clinical teams, IT colleagues, and external vendors to ensure mobile solutions meet the needs of all stakeholders.

Job responsibilities
1. Mobile Device Management (MDM): Implement, configure, and manage the Trust's Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform, ensuring secure and efficient management of all mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets) used across the Trust. Enforce security policies, manage device enrollments, and oversee the deployment of applications and updates across the mobile device fleet. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to mobile device performance, connectivity, and application functionality.
2. Support & Maintenance: Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for mobile devices and associated software, addressing and resolving incidents promptly. Conduct routine maintenance and updates on mobile devices to ensure optimal performance and security. Deliver training and support to end-users on effective mobile device usage in both clinical and non-clinical environments.
3. Mobility Solutions Development: Work closely with the DDaT team to identify, develop, and implement mobility solutions that enhance healthcare delivery across the Trust. Assist in designing and deploying new mobile applications and services, ensuring they meet the operational and clinical needs of the Trust. Evaluate and recommend new mobile technologies, tools, and processes to support the Trust's digital strategy and vision.
4. Security & Compliance: Ensure all mobile devices comply with NHS information governance, data protection, and cybersecurity policies. Monitor and manage mobile device security, including implementing encryption, remote wipe capabilities, and threat detection measures. Contribute to the development and enforcement of policies and procedures related to mobile device usage and security within the Trust.
5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with clinical teams, IT colleagues, and external vendors to ensure mobile solutions meet the needs of all stakeholders. Participate in project teams and contribute technical expertise to the successful delivery of digital initiatives that rely on mobile technology. Support the DDaT department in achieving broader organizational goals by providing technical guidance and leadership in mobility.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Evidence of postgraduate education to master's level or significant equivalent experience relevant to the role.
* ITIL Foundation
* Prince II Foundation
Experience
* Proven experience in managing and supporting mobile devices in a large, complex environment, preferably within a healthcare setting.
* Strong understanding of Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms, such as Microsoft Intune, VMware AirWatch, or MobileIron.
* Experience of working within the medical, NHS, or public sector.
* Experience of working in an acute hospital setting.
