Senior Hardware Engineer
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with significant experience in design or power electronics to deliver services for a Space programme.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead hardware design for space systems, ensuring performance, quality, and cost targets are met.
* Architect and design hardware for space terminals and high-speed digital systems.
* Conduct design reviews, present analysis summaries, and collaborate with internal and external teams.
* Perform hardware bring-up, verification, and testing using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers.
* Design and rework complex PCBs, including RF stack-ups and power management circuits.
* Support product certification, ensuring compliance with industry standards (CE, FCC).
* Report on design progress, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
* Collaborate across teams (Systems, Software, RF, Mechanical) to integrate hardware designs.
Requirements:
* Education: BEng, MEng, or PhD in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
* Experience: 10+ years in hardware design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting, preferably in space/aerospace.
* PCB Design: Proficient in schematic and PCB design (Altium preferred), including high-speed digital and RF designs.
* Power Supply: Experience with power management circuits and switching regulators.
* Compliance: Knowledge of CE, FCC standards, and product certification processes.
* Testing: Strong lab skills with oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, and other test equipment.
* Embedded Systems: Familiarity with ARM and Xilinx FPGA/SoC hardware.
* Communication: Excellent interdepartmental communication skills.
* Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Tools: Proficient with industry-standard design and analysis tools, and MS Office.
