Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Engineer to join our award-winning team at Novosound and help build innovative products including software and hardware. You will be crucial in helping us to continue our mission of Pushing the Limits of Ultrasound Sensing and Imaging. Based in Biocity, Newhouse (Scotland), we are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious, motivated person to develop sensor stack offerings (from sound wave to screen via sensor) and tackle some of the biggest sensing challenges with our clients.
We're looking for someone with a bachelor’s level qualification (or equivalent industrial experience) in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering based field. Experience working or leading a team in a fast-growing SME is of significant interest.
You’ll work closely with our highly skilled team of sensor physicists, engineers, and electronics/firmware specialists to develop ultrasound systems, process data, and analyse ultrasound signals. The candidate will have the opportunity to work across a range of applications in both medical and industrial sectors.
Responsibilities:
* Design capture and simulation using ECAD tools.
* Design low noise, wideband analogue circuits to interface between our ultrasound transducers and ADCs.
* Verify PCB design; create prototypes, test boards, and/or jigs as required.
* System fault finding and debug activities.
* Collaborate with other product development teams, including mechanical, firmware, and software engineers.
* Work proactively to complete scheduled tasks on time.
* Create documentation to support product development within regulated markets.
* Collaborate with third parties and suppliers.
* Design FPGA-based digital circuitry.
* Design high-order passive and active analogue filters.
* Transform internal and external customer requirements into design specifications and test documentation.
* Peer review designs.
* Identify and explore new electronics components and ICs for a wide variety of ultrasound applications.
* Other responsibilities or tasks that are within your skills and abilities, whenever reasonably instructed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
* Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field.
* Proficiency in ECAD tools for design capture and simulation.
* Strong understanding of analogue circuit design.
* Experience with PCB schematic and layout design.
* Experience with PCB bring-up and expertise in using general electronics debug equipment.
* Experience with basic soldering and connector assembly.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desirable:
* Experience with FPGA design and digital circuitry.
* Knowledge of high-order passive and active analogue filters.
* Familiarity with transforming customer requirements into design specifications.
* Experience in creating documentation for regulated markets.
* Ability to collaborate with third parties and suppliers.
* Experience in peer reviewing designs.
* Experience in designing using Altium preferred.
* Experience working within an agile framework.
