Community Learning Officer
35 hours per week
Temporary until 31 March 2026
£42,106 - £46,543 / £23.07 - £25.50 per hour (including shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)
An opportunity has arisen within the existing Community Learning and Development team for a dynamic individual with a passion for supporting learners and working successfully with partners in communities.
We are looking to recruit a Community Learning Officer to continue the work of the service to promote, develop and deliver local learning and development opportunities in line with identified need and national priorities and to build sustained partnerships between the community, voluntary and public agencies to address community needs.
The successful candidate will work to initiate, plan and lead activities that deliver high quality community learning opportunities. They will assist the Community Learning team in providing learning and development opportunities for learners that will improve educational attainment, address educational and social disadvantage and support adults and young people to make positive changes to their lives and in the lives of their communities. The successful candidate will be required to vary the focus of their work between adults and young people as directed by the service manager, but in the immediate future, will be focused on the Adult Learning and Community Development areas of the service.
The post holder is required to have experience of working with adults and young people in Community Learning and Development settings and have experience and understanding of planning, delivering and evaluating a range of activities, programmes and initiatives.
Candidates should hold a degree, or equivalent level qualification, in Community Learning and Development, Youth Work or Community Work, and hold professional registration as a Member of the CLD Standards Council for Scotland. Where membership is not held, it is required to be achieved within 6 months of appointment.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
The post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
