Chepstow House School is an established 3 form entry, Coed Prep with a nursery attached and outstanding facilities within the Notting Hill Gate area. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced musician and teacher of brass, who has had experience of working with young children and works with equal efficacy independently and as part of a team.
Teaching is likely to be timetabled over one day per week during the school term and will involve providing individual music lessons to pupils, including encouragement of performance opportunities, participation in ensembles, preparation for grade examinations and entry to competitions and music festivals as appropriate to the student.
The successful applicant will be suitably qualified to teach and motivate pupils of all levels. This is an opportunity to be part of a busy and vibrant Music Department. All staff share the responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the pupils, in accordance with the School’s Safeguarding policies.
The Music Department runs an extremely full programme of extracurricular activities, and there may be opportunities to lead an ensemble club.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Providing proper supervision of pupils during lessons times as appropriate whilst on the School’s premises and ensuring that pupils comply with the School’s reasonable standards of conduct and behaviour
· Recording and maintaining a register.
· Providing the parents with regular feedback on the progress of pupils.
· Observing such reasonable and lawful policies and procedures as shall be notified to them by the School.

· Ability to build pupils’ musicianship, technique and confidence
· Excellent communication skills – oral and written
· Effective IT skills
· Excellent teaching skills
· An accomplished musician and performer with relevant qualifications and/or professional experience
· Experience of teaching instrumental music lessons to Prep School age pupils
Experience of preparing and entering pupils for ABRSM / Trinity/ RSL and/or other music examining boards.
· A relevant formal music qualification is desirable.
