* Responsible for the overall general care and safety of all children within the room/unit and in the centre as a whole, ensuring that the needs of the children are met and are age appropriate.
Freedom of action
* Responsible for contributing to the motivation and development of other Junior Instructors as well as monitoring performance within the room/unit.
* Able to use own initiative and work as part of a team with appropriate supervision from the Junior Activities management team.

Health and Safety
* Ensure the care, maintenance and security of all equipment/toys in the junior activities department
* Ensure that standards of health, safety and security are operated at all times.
* Aware of the departmental fire drill procedure.
* Ensure the health and safety regulations run by the Ofsted standards are followed.
* Understand and implement the departments operating procedures, club emergency procedures and the clubs emergency action plan.
General Duties
* Provide high quality out-of-school childcare that is safe and fun.
* Wear to appropriate P.P.E at all times when handling food.
* Arrive on site 15 minutes before the activity commences and be well prepared to the run activity.
* Complete registers and perform regular head count to ensure you are always aware of the number of children in your care.
* Provide structured sessions with a variety of activities, which are appropriate to the age group.
* Provide equality of care and provision to all children. Instructors should use judgement skills and initiative to include all children in activities or run an alternative activity if necessary. [Games manual available at all times]
* Create enthusiasm and motivation to participate in activities by interacting with children and joining in with activities.
* Act as a role model for the children & conduct yourself accordingly (e.g. use appropriate language, discussions & behaviour).
* Abide by the agreed procedure for disciplining children to ensure continuity and fairness of care.
* Work as part of a team supporting other Instructors and Junior Co-ordinators during operations.
* Share work equally among instructors and support new members of staff to the best of your experience.
* Move children around the club in an orderly fashion, showing concern for other club users, with one instructor at the front of the queue and one at the back. Ensure that head counts are carried out before leaving one room and upon arrival of the destination. Ensure the 'front instructor' is looking back continuously to check on the children and that the group are kept together and not spread out.
* Interact with parents / carers to ensure they are satisfied with the childcare provided and are well informed of Colets club and junior activities and procedures.
* Understand and implement the Ofsted Welfare Requirements.
* Follow Colets & Junior Activities policies and procedures. Regularly check these to keep up to date.
