Job summary Kestrel ward is a Tier 4 In-patient CAMHS Adolescent Unit which provides treatment for young people aged 11-17 years old with a range of with complex mental health needs and risks that cannot be managed in the community. The unit is based at the North Wales Adolescent Service in Abergele- North Wales and operates alongside an Intensive community support team and Virtual eating disorder service to support the young people of North Wales. We encourage applications from RMNs, RNCs and RNLD both newly qualified and those with experience looking to specialise or broaden their scope of practice. We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and forward- thinking staff nurse available to work full or part time to within Kestrel ward. Prior experience of working with young people is not required, however a willingness to learn and develop the therapeutic skills needed is key. For successful candidates there will be opportunities for further training and professional development, in line with the complex needs of the service. Staff wellbeing and support is an important part of the NWAS ethos and the ward offers its team twice weekly staff support sessions as a group, as well as individual line management and clinical supervision. Main duties of the job You will work within a well-established MDT team consisting of nursing, psychiatry, psychology, family therapy and art therapy. The role of staff nurse covers a wide range of tasks including assessment and the provision of support and treatment interventions to children and their families. For these tasks you will require confidence, patience, tolerance and the ability to think creatively to problem solve and overcome challenges. You will receive ongoing support from your peers, ward manager and senior staff to ensure that you are able to achieve your potential as a Staff nurse with a view to further progression within the service.
