Do you have a genuine love of physics? Are you looking for an opportunity to teach in one of the top performing physics departments in the country? Then this might be the opportunity for you!
Due to the continued success and growth of the College, we are looking to appoint a passionate and dynamic Teacher of Physics who will join the College family and share their passion for physics with some of the most talented physicists from around the world.
We are an academically selective college based on ability in mathematics, with all our students taking A-level Maths and a large portion taking Further Maths. This has a big impact on how we can approach physics teaching. Topics which in many environments require a lot of time to master (perhaps the use of vectors, the use of logs and exponentials, or trigonometry in SHM) can be covered quickly, leaving more time for teaching extension material and exploring challenging questions.
Our students are enthusiastic and highly motivated. Lessons are taught at a level that often goes beyond A-level, in order to introduce students to topics they will encounter at university.
Physics is extremely popular at the College. Around 75% of our A-level students are currently studying physics, split between several sets in each year group each with a maximum class size of 14. Last year 78% of physics students achieved A* or A grades at A-level, with 14 students going on to study physics or engineering courses at top universities, including 5 at Oxford or Cambridge.
We reserve the right to interview applicants early and close this advertisement before the closing date if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.
