We are looking for a reliable Buildings Caretaker to undertake upkeep and repair tasks of the interior and exterior of our premises. Conducting such tasks as basic maintenance including water temperature checks, painting, emergency light tests, fire drills and basic DIY jobs, this list isn’t exhaustive. You will be predominately based at the Beaconsfield office but will be required to attend the other offices on occasion (on a monthly basis). We will rely on you to keep our facilities in perfect condition by doing various odd jobs. Due to the nature of the post there will be an expectation that the post holder will be exposed to dirt and dust which on occasions, for example adverse weather conditions, may be higher than normal. On odd occasions there may be the requirement to work outside of normal agreed hours, such as early or late starts or weekend work, so some flexibility is required. Key Responsibilities Check all fire escape doors, maintain locks and hinges, ensure steps and pathways clear. Minor handyman work such as fixing faulty draws, tightening screws. Check carpets for wear and trip hazards. Repair/replace as required. Check bulbs, replace as required. Check all roof and pantiles missing or damaged (Ascot and Beaconsfield). Water temps and flushing. Check pathway for car park for obstructions and condition. Walk boundaries of Beaconsfield office. Assist with deliveries and general portage duties. Water temperature checks for legionella – training will be provided. Fire alarm tests Emergency lighting flick tests (Beaconsfield, Reading and Ascot monthly basis) To assist the Facilities Manager with office moves. Painting as and when required. Building fabric audits to be completed on a monthly basis. Assist the team in other roles as and when required. To keep spreadsheets up to date and accurate Equipment You are responsible for the equipment provided to you for use in your job role. This means you must ensure that equipment is used in accordance with any training provided, the organisation’s policies and procedures and the law and using, where applicable, any safety equipment or Personal Protective Equipment provided. You are responsible for ensuring that the equipment you use is maintained and can be used/operated at all times. Any personal equipment provided by yourself and used in the course of your work must also be suitably maintained and safe for use. Person Specification Qualifications Any relevant trade qualifications (desirable) Skills Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a similar role. Competent at basic building repairs and maintenance. Use of small industrial/electrical/mechanical equipment. Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions, including manual handling and working at heights. Literacy and Numeracy skills sufficient to check delivery notes, read electric meters and take measurements etc. Able to regularly handle/carry items. Hold a full driving licence and have use of own vehicle with the ability to travel between sites. Competent at driving large vehicles including transit and Luton vans, if required. Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrable time management skills. Ability to complete tasks within set deadlines. Good attention to detail. To be friendly and approachable, understand and be able deliver good customer service. Willingness to undertake any additional training as required.
