Locum Consultant in OMFS with special interest in Orthognathic Surgery

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and innovative full-time Consultant to support delivery of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery services across the Tees Valley.
This post is ideally full-time to provide cover a vacancy; however, part-time would be considered. The candidate should have a broad experience in General Maxillofacial Surgery including Head & Neck, Facial Trauma, TMJ, Skin, Dentoalveolar Surgery, with a special interest in orthognathic surgery.
The post will be based at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, providing an exciting opportunity to work within a committed team.
Main duties of the job
Service provision extends to The Friarage Hospital (Northallerton) and Darlington Memorial Hospital. The Consultant workforce at JCUH is supported by an Associate Specialist (POMFS), 2 Specialist Registrars in training, 3 full-time Specialty Doctors, 4 part-time Specialty Doctors, and 7 Dental Core Trainees. Also supporting the team are our Oral Surgery Consultant and our Restorative Dentistry Consultant.
The department has a fully functioning Maxillofacial laboratory equipped with up-to-date technology, including intra & extra oral scanning facilities, 3D printers, and 3D software for planning and image manipulation.
James Cook University Hospital is a designated Major Trauma Centre, and OMFS is part of the trauma MDT. The successful candidate will be part of the on-call rota for Oral & Maxillofacial emergencies.
Further development of a candidate's special interest in other areas of Maxillofacial Surgery will be encouraged, and there is scope to develop these interests across all sites.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Specialist Skills
* Full Registration with the GMC and a registerable GDC qualification.
* FRCS (or equivalent) and MFDS (or equivalent).
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the CCT.
* Training in appraisal & mentoring techniques.
Clinical Specialty Skills
* Clinical experience of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
* Clinical experience in orthognathic surgery.
* Specialty fellowship.
* ATLS provider.
* Experience of teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students, junior doctors, and dentists.
* Innovative and supportive attitude. Evidence of working within a multidisciplinary team.
* Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
* Ability to organise and prioritise complex demands.
* Publications in peer-reviewed journals. Evidence of Clinical Audit.
* Formal teaching/training experience.
* Previous personal research experience.
* Management training.

* Evidence of research or innovative service developments.
