Job overview
We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team in a senior capacity, with a focus on Home Care and High-Cost Drugs and developing your commissioning skills.
You will work closely with the Procurement and Distribution Team and the Lead Pharmacist Medicines Optimisation and Medicines Governance to support the management, development, co-ordination and delivery of cost-effective procurement and delivery of high-cost drugs and expanding medicines homecare service to patients across the QEHKL NHSFT.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong organisational abilities and the capacity to thrive under pressure. A collaborator mentality is essential, as is adaptability to change and proficiency in IT and interpersonal relations.
While prior knowledge of NHS and commissioning processes is advantageous, comprehensive training will be given.
Main duties of the job
1. To assist and support the delivery of medicines to Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust (QEHKL NHSFT) patients through homecare services in line with national standards, guidelines and local policy.
2. To ensure the safe and timely supply of medicines to patients via third party homecare providers, by establishing robust methods of managing administrative work, monitoring the homecare provider’s performance and responding to complaints and queries.
3. To be the liaison with the finance department in managing provision of billing data for excluded from tariff drugs, ensuring that the data provided to finance permits the accurate invoicing for these drugs to the relevant commissioners (e.g., Clinical Commissioning Groups, NHSE or Cancer Drug Fund).
4. To be the initial point of contact within the pharmacy department for the commissioners high-cost drug pharmacy teams, working to resolve any excluded from tariff drug billing queries.
5. To develop and maintain technical knowledge associated with high cost drugs and homecare services to ensure that high standards of governance are maintained and translated into a quality service for patients and hospital staff which safeguards patients whilst offering choice and making the best use of NHS resources.

Person specification
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent
* Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
* Accredited Checking Technician, or willing to undertake within 3 months of starting post
* Clinical Supervisor (CS), Educational Supervision (ES), or Practice Supervisor (PS) accreditation
Experience
* Post registration experience working as a pharmacy technician
* Notable experience working in an acute hospital setting
* Experience of training and supervising staff
* Highly experienced dispensing skills within a pharmacy setting
* Can demonstrate an understanding of the pharmaceutical aspects of homecare
* Evidence of active involvement in service development
* Evidence of SOP writing and supporting policy and guideline development
Skills, abilities & knowledge
* Ability to work in an organised manner, in a busy environment
* Ability to work to deadlines and to achieve agreed objectives
