Oncology/Haematology Pharmacist - Southampton - NHS Hospital - Band 7/8a

3. Duration: 6 months minimum
4. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 9am - 5pm, 30-minute break
5. Start Date: October/November 2024
6. Rate of pay: £28-37ph depending on experience
Details of the role:
The role includes contributing to the specialist multidisciplinary team which provides inpatient, day case and outpatient chemotherapy for a wide range of oncology and haemato-oncology cancer sites. This will include both inpatient duties, ward rounds and the direct involvement in the specialist oncology and haemato-oncology clinics.
Responsibilities include:
* Contributing to the safe management of high-risk systemic anticancer treatments.
* Providing clinical pharmacy services to wards and departments.
* Being responsible for the clinical pharmacy service to specialist haematology ward patients.
* Attending and contributing to the haematology ward round and MDT meetings.
* Contributing to the pharmaceutical care of patients admitted for acute oncology reasons.
* Clinically verifying prescriptions for SACT and supportive medication.
* Giving specialist advice and support to medical and nursing staff, and other members of the pharmacy team.
* Providing education and training to nurses and other members of the pharmacy team.
* Counseling patients and confirming consent prior to initiating SACT treatment.
* Participating in clinical audit and other initiatives aimed at assuring high quality prescribing and pharmacy practice.
Requirements and qualifications required for this role:
* MPharm
* Registered with GPHC
* Strong communication skills
* Reliable
* BOPA SACT Passport
Working hours and contract duration:
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 9am - 5pm, 30-minute break.
