The Tax Manager will be responsible for corporation tax compliance and reporting for various entities, provide transaction support to UK operations, and collaborate with the team on corporate tax areas such as SAO, tax risk management and governance, transfer pricing, CFC, capital allowances, R&D claims, UK group planning etc.
* Complete the compliance process for trading and corporate companies to ensure an accurate and timely filing of all tax returns and ensure that all legal documentation requirements are fulfilled.
* Report business unit’s corporate tax at each quarter end, year end and for the budget/plan.
* Develop and maintain links between the UK tax department and the UK finance and operational teams, including the provision of transaction/project support across all taxes.
* Carry out and assist in the timely completion of group-wide compliance requirements for the UK group and international group as required.
* Support the team in domestic and international tax projects impacting the UK Group as required.
* Proactively work with the UK finance and operational teams to improve and monitor processes, controls and systems across the UK operations which have implications for tax risk management.
* In respect of VAT, aggregates levy, landfill tax, CIS, Tied Oil etc (as required).
* Undertake a tax technical review of the returns prepared by UK finance.
* Monitor the timely submission and payment of all returns.
* Monitor tax audits, keep contact with HMRC, defend company’s position, report status on regular basis.
* Provide technical support on queries in respect of these taxes.
* Identify, implement and maintain opportunities to mitigate the UK direct and indirect tax charge.
* The role holder is responsible for the tax issues of the companies assigned to them, assists in managing the overall compliance management including indirect taxes.
Education/Qualification
* Degree preferred
* ACA/CTA or equivalent
* Industry and/or mid-large firm corporate tax experience
* Strong practical knowledge of tax compliance and reporting
* Strong accounting/audit knowledge
* Strong technical background covering corporate tax
* Good technical knowledge covering all aspects of UK taxation
* Knowledge and experience of domestic or international transactions or projects is an advantage
* Organised with the ability to manage large complex tasks and multiple deadlines
* Confident, proactive, goal orientated and self-motivated
* Excellent communication skills
* Strong IT skills and experience of SAP accounting systems preferred
