Location : Birmingham Hours : 40 hours per week What will you be responsible for? As a Technician, you'll be working within the Highways team, supporting them in providing support and assistance to the team for all traffic and contingency planning services, meeting client and Kier objectives using urban traffic control systems, techniques, and knowledge. Your day to day will include: Assisting with network performance and fault reports, special events and other traffic and contingency planning functions such as TRO, events and winter, conducting project administration including updating of the MIS maintaining accuracy at all times Supporting the urban traffic control centre (UTC) methodologies and standards ensuring effective and innovative solutions are maintained Liaising closely with other Kier teams particularly OCR helpdesk and street works, helping with daily reporting on how the traffic network is operating Aiding the Senior Traffic Engineer and Area Manager with the management of planned repairs and maintenance along with implementing innovative ideas Monitoring and using UTC systems, playing a part in keeping Birmingham moving by reacting to network pressures, maintaining compliance with quality, environmental, health & safety and CDM procedures, communicating with police, local authorities, statutory undertakers and other bodies as required What are we looking for? This role of Technician is great for you if: You have worked at a Technician level in a similar demanding environment and have knowledge of relevant highway standards and documents, as well as the understanding of adhering to safe methods of working Demonstrate successful problem solving skills, identifying, analysing and suggesting solutions without prompting, can use, Confirm, Word, Excel, UTC-UX for data entry and writing reports, feel comfortable carrying out accurate surveys in a high-speed road environment Enjoy communicating across different levels, in person and via emails etc. We're all about finding potential here at Kier, and transferrable skills are always welcome So, even if you don't tick every box, please apply and we can have a chat.
