About the project CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment. CMDP+ have secured a new AMP8 Capital Programme. The Strategic Delivery Partner Framework Agreement with Southern Water for Water supply and wastewater treatment work in the eastern half its region (Kent & Sussex). This represents continuation of the successful joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment.
Between 2025-2030 CMDP+ will deliver critical investment to Water and Wastewater infrastructure across the region including upgrades to Water and Wastewater Treatment Works, Pumping Stations and Reservoirs.
Purpose of the role
The role of a Commercial Graduate is to assist in administration and management of costs and contracts relating to projects. The role may involve all aspects of work from the initial tender to final account and close out, seeking to minimise the costs and enhance value for money whilst achieving the required standards and quality. This role will work under the close direction and supervision of a more senior stake holders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Management of the supply chain packages;
• Provide support to the commercial and wider team where necessary;
• Scoping packages, quantifying works, collating enquiry documentation, issuing tender enquiries, analysing tenders including documenting queries;
• Liabilities entered onto E1 within required deadlines;
• Entering of payments onto E1 within required deadlines;
• Implement commercial procedures and reporting to ensure compliance with company and contract requirements;
• Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements;
• Produce final subcontract tender comparison for presentation to Commercial Lead.
• Work with construction package managers during procurement process;
• Liaise with design team as required;
• Identification of Risk and Opportunities for the subcontract packages you are responsible for;
• Procurement of subcontractors for acquired packages;
• Engaging and liaising with supply chain to ensure level playing field for all tenderers;
• Compliance and adherence with project and company commercial procedures for procurement.
Costain Graduate Development Programme
Our programme focuses on helping individuals to learn a mix of both Leadership and Technical skills. We offer a structured training programme to enable graduates to work towards achieving Chartership in their chosen field.
Graduates may also have the opportunity, after the first 8 - 10 months to rotate and to work on a number of exciting and progressive projects around the UK during the 2-year period, experiencing the best we have to offer across the different sectors we work in.
Our line managers are fully supportive of the Graduate Development Programme and will be involved in helping you along the way.
About you:
- A Bachelor's degree at grade 2:2 or above in a related study (or equivalent project-related experience).
- IT proficient (Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other software)
- Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills.
- A willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Have passion for Costain's Carbon Net Zero targets.
- A willingness to learn with appropriate instructions.
- Excel at building and maintaining positive relationships
- The ability to thrive in time sensitive situations
- Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills
- Full UK Driving License
- Mobility to work on various projects over the 2-year programme throughout the UK if required
Extra Information
Please note that for some of our roles, and to rotate around the business as part of the Graduate scheme, you may be required to obtain and maintain security clearance of at least Security Check level. For this you will need to have been a legal U.K. resident for a minimum of 5 years and be able to successfully complete the vetting process.
