Castlefield Recruitment are partnering with a Private Healthcare provider who is seeking a Registered Nurse with surgery experience to work within their state-of-the-art award-winning independent Hospital.

Shift pattern to include either: 6.45am-2.15pm/12.30pm-8.00pm/6.45am-8.00pm Mon- Fri and/or sat 6.45am – until close
Overview
They have opportunities for Registered Nurses to join the Day Case team. As a Registered Nurse, you'll be an integral part of the healthcare team and will be involved in everything from clinical triage to the evaluation of patient care and standards. You’ll carry out – and potentially develop – nurse led clinics, reviewing patient’s histories, undertaking relevant examinations and tests, organising any necessary treatment, and referring patients to other healthcare professionals when you need to. You will have the opportunity to work in our brand-new welcome/discharge lounge designed to welcome patients prior to surgery and to also support patients on discharge leaving the hospital to go home post-surgery.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical
* Providing the highest standards of nursing care as required within each of our care settings.
* Preparing clinic rooms for procedures including preparation of sterile instrumentation, equipment and supplies as required, ensuring appropriate use of resources and minimal waste.
* Ensuring the Patient Record is completed in a timely and accurate way.
* Acting as mentor for students, learners, junior Nurses and Health Care Support Workers and recording progress, as appropriate.
* Participating in teaching within your sphere of knowledge and skill.
* Organising own time and taking responsibility for duties delegated by the Lead Nurse or unit nursing lead.
* Maintaining effective channels of communication.
* Complying with the policies/procedures and in particular, issues relating to Health and Safety, COSHH, Incident Reporting and the Data Protection Act.
* Reporting all accidents and untoward incidents and complete appropriate forms.
* Acting as specialist/link person having undergone the relevant training sessions in your area of expertise.
* Developing the patient pathway to ensure that the patient is prepared physically and psychologically to undergo necessary procedures.
* Ensuring patient receives the appropriate documented information for the planned procedure.
* Delivering patient care in accordance with recognised standards of research and evidence based best clinical practice.
* Leading by example to ensure that the rights, dignity, and confidentiality of the patient are protected at all times.
* Undertaking any other duties that may reasonably be required.
* Understanding and applying a holistic patient centred care approach, identifying and considering specialist clinical needs of each patient.
* Working within flexible rosters, designed to achieve the most effective use of staff to meet the needs of our patients.
* Providing flexible cover across unit and specialty areas, as required.
Professional Knowledge, Training and Experience
* Identify personal objectives, reflect on progress, and set a personal development plan annually in order to develop within post.
* Liaise with Lead nurse in agreeing how identified training and development needs are met.
* Ensure that own practice is kept updated using an appropriate model of clinical supervision.
* Take every opportunity to expand own practice in line with the principles contained within the Nursing and Midwifery Council guidelines and protocols.
* Ensure that all elements contained within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct are adhered to, including ensuring maintenance of anaesthetic registration requirements if appropriate.
* Develop clinical knowledge and professional skills through relevant training.
Communication
* Receive and relay information correctly and promptly wherever necessary.
* Maintain effective channels of communication with members of the multi-disciplinary, and wider hospital, team.
* Be aware of the need for confidentiality both in the written and spoken word.
* Participate in team/department meetings wherever necessary.
* Report any actual or suspected information security events as soon as possible.
Minimum Requirements:
* Experience in a similar role
* NMC registration
* 1-2 year post registration experience
* Demonstrable record of CPD
* Knowledge of current issues in professional practice with relevance to the Unit
* Knowledge of standards of professional practice in the wider healthcare context
* Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and IT systems
