Shift Engineer
Plant Maintenance Shift Engineer - Exeter - £40,000 - 4 on/4 off + Private Medical Insurance + Discounts
The Job:
The Shift Engineer plays a key role in ensuring maximum uptime and the efficient operation of the production plant. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position focuses on preventative and reactive maintenance, compliance with statutory requirements, and contributing to long-term repair planning. The role operates on a 4 days on, 4 days off shift pattern, alternating between day shifts (6:00 am – 6:00 pm) and night shifts (6:00 pm – 6:00 am).
1. Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and responding to breakdowns promptly
2. Conducting boiler maintenance and inspecting pressure systems (steam, condensate, and air)
3. Ensuring the plant is safely isolated for colleagues and contractors to carry out work
4. Issuing Permits to Work and ensuring adherence to safety procedures
5. Recording maintenance tasks in daily logs and Asset Master systems
6. Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and supporting site security

- Skilled and experienced professional with a strong technical background and a mechanical bias
- Mechanical and electrical qualifications
- Expertise in boiler maintenance
- First Aid certification and excellent health & safety awareness
