We are looking for 2 catering assistants for our Weekday Evening shift Monday to Friday.
Position 1: 15:00-19:00. Position 2: 17:00-21:00

Your workload will include the provision of a safe and hygienic environment for the service of meals to patients, staff, and visitors, working in the central dishwasher area and delivery of meals at ward level. Working as part of the Catering Team, assisting in all aspects of the service including wash-up and cleaning duties related to the provision of our high-quality catering service to patients.
Main Duties of the Job
The main duties include the following:
1. Setting up and preparation of supper trolleys
2. Preparation of items for the following day's breakfast
3. Delivery of any ad hoc meals as ordered by the wards
4. Answering of telephone calls and responding as required
5. Service of supper meals to a minimum of one ward using a pre-populated menu card
6. Collection of all trays, crockery, and cutlery from the wards ensuring all equipment is returned to the department
7. Clear, clean, and put away all equipment from the supper lunch service using an industrial dishwasher
8. Hygienic cleaning of the department along with team members ready for the next shift
9. Communicate with multi-disciplinary staff and make informed decisions at point of service and within the department

Job Responsibilities
1. Maintain a polite and efficient relationship with all service users
2. Follow instructions
3. Ensure hygiene regulations and practices as laid down by the Food Hygiene Regulations are adhered to
4. Maintain high standards of environmental hygiene adhering to cleaning procedures and correct use of chemicals
5. Portion meals correctly ensuring products are aesthetically presented and follow menu choice, dietary requirements, and correct portion sizes
6. Complete all relevant control documents recording temperatures, waste, and other prescribed documents
7. Ensure correct use, storage, and rotation of all food products
8. Spend long periods of time standing throughout the shift
9. Constantly move and handle stock, pans, clearing trolleys, and meal trolleys
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in a catering or hospitality environment, dealing with a diverse range of people face to face and over the phone
* Experience of working within a hospital environment or other care sector
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of or willingness to undertake training in Food Safety and Allergen Awareness
* Ability to communicate within the team and wider audience; follow verbal and written processes and procedures
Qualifications
* Good General Education with Good Literacy and Numerical skills
* Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene
Personal Qualities
* Polite team worker who is self-organised and aware of self-presentation to represent the department
