The Grounds Maintenance Operative will join a dedicated team committed to supporting a thriving historic estate based in the picturesque countryside in South East Wales. In this varied hands-on role, the Grounds Maintenance Operative will demonstrate a flexible, “can-do” attitude and be willing to take on different tasks in addition to the regular maintenance of the estate grounds. The Grounds Maintenance Operative will be comfortable operating machinery and ground care equipment, you will be able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaborating with the team where necessary. Grounds Maintenance Operative Role Responsibilities:
* The maintenance and upkeep of the estate grounds to include lawn mowing, hedge cutting, strimming weeding, pruning and planting of shrubs where necessary
* To ensure quality lawn care and weed control while maintaining and servicing equipment like mowers, strimmers, and power tools
* To operate tractors and trailers and undertake routine field maintenance and fence repairs where necessary
* To manage woodland areas, including felling and log splitting and the maintenance of paths and ditches
* To assist with general property maintenance, including handyman duties clearing properties after tenancies, and drive for errands as required
Grounds Maintenance Operative Skills you will need:
Essential:
* A basic knowledge of landscaping techniques, building maintenance, and repair work
* Confident operating tractors and ground maintenance machinery and equipment
* An understanding of livestock management
* Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and competently with estate staff
* Organised with a high level of attention to detail
* Must be able to use own initiative and carry out tasks unsupervised
* Honest, dedicated and driven, willing to go the “extra mile” when required
* A chainsaw competency certificate
* PA1 and PA6 qualifications
* Ability to perform physical labour and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
* Full driving licence
Desirable:
* Telehandler and digger qualifications
Remuneration: A competitive salary and package commensurate with the successful candidate's experience. N.B. some weekend/evening work may be required
