As the Associate Director of Estates and Facilities, you will be responsible for the delivery of the Estates strategy and the operational delivery of the estates, clinical engineering, facilities and capital team functions. The Estates strategy will include emphasis on the quality and safety of the estate now and into the future, the capturing and sharing of best practice (nationally and internationally) and the delivery of support services that ensure the provision is of appropriate, safe, effective and efficient quality and achieved within the resources identified.
The post holder will be expected to ensure that Estates and Facilities services are aligned to the clinical, workforce, research and development and finance strategies of the Trust and that improvements are co-produced with staff and service users alike.
As a member of the Trust Senior Leadership Team, you will share the responsibility for delivering the organisation's strategic goals and objectives as established by the Trust Board. You will be accountable and report to the Director of Finance.
Main duties of the job
To advise the Chief Executive, Executive Team and Trust Board on all aspects of Estates and Facilities Management.
To lead the planning, development and implementation of the Trust's Estates and Facilities functions, Estates development and Estates and Facilities compliance.
To support the delivery of the Trust sustainability strategy
To manage delivery of large scale strategic capital and operational projects
To develop and maintain strategic estates partnerships within the local health economy, ICS and partners.
To deliver all statutory and regulatory standards and ensure compliance with national standards and policies
To ensure a culture of co-production with all estates and facilities stakeholders, including patients, visitors, staff and clinical teams and the service users at all times.
To act as Professional lead and advisor for all Estates matters and relevant policies
About us
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:
1. The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds
2. Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility
3. Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
The Trust employs over 6258 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.
The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.
