Role Summary
This role is a 1 year Fixed Term Contract, and is fully office based.
As Production Manager, you will oversee the smooth running and organisation of On The Tools Productions. You’ll tap into your network of reliable contacts to crew up projects and set them up for success. You’ll also be responsible for managing production staff, driving compliance, cost efficiencies, and improvements to the production process across branded content.
Responsibilities
As Production Manager, you will:
* Oversee the end-to-end production process for Branded video content, from pre-production to post-production.
* Manage Production Crew, including Videographers and Editors.
* Source and allocate freelance talent as needed, including Videographers, Editors, Production Assistants, Sound Technicians, Live Specialists, and DOPs.
* Improve cost efficiencies across video productions. Manage production budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
* Ensure Production Teams are adequately resourced by maintaining clear communication with New Business and Client Services teams.
* Ensure all production timelines align with client expectations and deadlines.
* Ensure consistent file management, from footage storage to final content delivery.
* Build and maintain a strong network of freelance production contacts in the West Midlands.
* Manage crew contracts, ensuring compliance and adherence to terms.
* Oversee and input budget expenditure for key production areas, including kit and software.
* Stay up to date with the latest production software and tools, implementing the most efficient solutions to streamline workflows and improve overall production processes.
* Ensure all productions comply with Health & Safety, copyright laws, and insurance policies.
* Manage off-boarding processes, ensuring all company property is returned.
* Foster a high-performance culture within the branded production teams.
* Provide the Chief Operating Officer with summary reports on resourcing and expenditure.
* Lead production recruitment – monitor team capacity, identify skill gaps, and hire full-time or freelance talent as needed, ensuring sign-off from the Chief Operating Officer.
* Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines and social media best practices whilst ensuring final content meets client expectations.
* Oversee risk assessments, insurance, and health & safety compliance for productions.
* Work closely with client services and new business teams to align production with client needs.
Requirements & Desirable Qualifications
Education:
* Degree or equivalent in Media or a Production-related subject (desirable).
Knowledge:
* Strong understanding of video production processes and roles.
* Awareness of social media marketing and content creation.
* Knowledge of legal compliance, copyright, and insurance in video production.
* Established network of freelance production contacts in the West Midlands.
Experience:
* Experience in Social Media production with a strong industry network.
* Proven experience managing teams and production crews.
* Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
* Highly organised with excellent time management.
* Strong budgeting and accounting skills.
* Detail-oriented with a thorough approach.
* Effective leadership skills to motivate and support a team.
* Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal.
* Proactive problem-solver with a pragmatic approach.
