We are a friendly, welcoming, fast developing, innovative, national and specialist ARFID team working with young people (2 - 17 years) and their families. Our multi-disciplinary team includes Clinical Psychology, Nursing, Dietetic, Psychiatry, and Paediatric posts, supported by a friendly Admin Team.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a busy multidisciplinary team who work within Access and Waiting Times standards to assess and offer detailed formulations and MDT interventions (psychological, dietetic, and psychiatric) to children and young people who meet the diagnostic criteria for ARFID. The post holder will be expected to carry out detailed assessments, feedback to the MDT team, and develop appropriate care plans for patients accepted for intervention. The role also involves care co-ordination and liaison with community teams (e.g. paediatrics, dietetics, specialty teams etc), schools, and CAMHS. The post holder will hold a case load and offer evidence informed interventions (in person and virtual) to children, young people, and families with ARFID. The CAMHS nurse will also support with doing physical observations on young people in the service and support in the development of risk management plans. The post holder will also support service development, research, and the EDI/PPI agenda within the team.

Job responsibilities
1. To provide specialist clinical/psychologist assessment, formulations and interventions for clients with restrictive eating disorders, complex mental health needs and associated presentations.
2. Complete robust risk assessments and risk management plans.
3. To ensure that all recording and reporting of patient contact is accurate, up to date and of good quality and within CAMHS & professional requirement standards of record keeping.
4. Maintain good relationships and clear lines of communication with other professionals, particularly acute medical and safeguarding teams. Providing specialist advice and support where appropriate.
5. Contribute to the effective functioning of the team and service through attendance at relevant meetings, taking responsibilities within the service as appropriate and negotiated with the line manager.
6. Supervise junior members of the team or trainees from any discipline.
7. Assume responsibility for own case list and case management of children, adolescents and families who are determined to be at low/medium/high risk.
8. Make a clinical formulation from a standard CAMH assessment, including risk assessment, on which to recommend a treatment intervention. Design, write and share a copy of the care plan with children, young people, and their carers. Carry out the planned intervention with minimal supervision.
9. Assess safeguarding issues for own caseload and action appropriately.
10. Use individual, group work, family work, advice, and supervision according to the needs of children and young people. Have a flexible and innovative approach to packages of care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* First level nursing qualification/registration RMN or RSCN or HV with related CAMHS experience (A)
* Training in Clinical supervision (A)
* ENB 998 or mentorship and or equivalent experience and training (A)
Experience
* Experience of working collaboratively with supervisor, patient, carers and MDT to assess needs, plan and implement care. (A/I)
* Taking responsibility for care delivery in a specific area and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment. (A/I)
Understanding and Knowledge
* A working knowledge of the following: Mental health disorders in children and adolescents, The Children Act 1989, The Mental Health Act 1983, The Crime and Disorder Act 1998, London Child protection procedures Assessment of risk and management of risk factors, The principles of clinical governance and practice, The principles underlying confidentiality and information sharing.
Skills
* Basic IT and data entry skills to enter clinical information into databases.
* Experience in assessing physical health risk and monitoring and care planning treatment of same. (A&I)
Abilities
* Ability to take on new concepts/forward thinking Good written and verbal presentation skills.
* Ability to be 'reflective' in therapeutic practice and adapt practice from this reflection (A/I)
