Job Description
PHPRU The Spinney is a new provision that will provide high-quality assessment and teaching of reception and key stage 1 children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Hours:
Full time - 30 hours per week – Monday to Friday
Part time – 15 hours per week – 3 hours per day Monday to Friday – times to be confirmed
Due to this expansion, the Management Committee of PHPRU is seeking to appoint 2 full-time and 1 part-time Teaching Assistants to form the new team at The Spinney from September 2025. They will be committed to, and enthusiastic about, early intervention and maximising individual potential. These posts involve working alongside a range of professionals and families and therefore require someone with an outgoing personality, a positive outlook on life, and a willingness to undertake a range of tasks.
The successful candidate will develop their skills of working with children with a range of abilities/medical needs, predominantly those with ASD.
Responsibilities:
* Support teachers in delivering an appropriate and outstanding curriculum
* Support young children in reception and key stage 1, who have complex special educational and health needs, both with class-based activities and over lunchtime
* Maintain a positive approach when faced with challenges
* Support assessment within the provision
* Participate as a team member in the operation, promotion, evaluation, and development of The Spinney and work collaboratively
* Ensure the safety and welfare of all pupils
