Commercial Manager
Location: Derry
Salary: £(phone number removed) per annum plus additional benefits
My client is a tier 1 contractor who has a major construction project based in Derry. As a result, they are recruiting for two permanent Commercial Managers for the project.
Commercial Manager Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Client / Project Account Management from set-up, interim valuations, variations, and final account.
2. Ensure compliance with contract obligations and provide advice to the delivery/construction team.
3. Review programme and construction constraints and support the team to overcome these issues while maintaining cost and on-site progress.
4. Provide support to close out all project procurement requirements in conjunction with the Procurement Team.
5. Subcontractor Account Management from initial award, interim valuations, variations, and final account.
6. Managing and forecasting turnover and cash flow for Finance Department.
7. Ability to identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting of same to the Leadership team.
8. Manage and maintain monthly progress applications both upstream and downstream.
9. Submission of Monthly CVRs and present monthly cost position to Commercial Director.
10. Liaise with all project stakeholders and maintain good relationships.
11. Managing the commercial team and developing junior/intermediate commercial managers.
Key Skills and Requirements for the Commercial Manager:
1. Relevant third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying/Construction Economics is preferred but not essential.
2. Previous experience in major construction is preferred but is not essential.
3. Minimum 8+ years' experience on large commercial projects €20m+.
4. Commercially astute with a strong understanding of the construction process.
5. A self-starter able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and self-motivation and be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy.
6. Methodical, analytical, and organised with an attention to detail.
7. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
8. Ability to work under pressure.
9. Able to build effective relationships across the business and externally at all levels.
10. Open to feedback with a willingness to learn and improve.
