About the Role: Process Improvement Engineer
We are looking for a Process Improvement Engineer to drive operational excellence at our Lincoln Manufacturing site, specifically focusing on the Pellet Plant area. This days-based position involves working Monday – Friday, leading shift teams, and enhancing performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop expert understanding of pellet plant processes by collaborating with the Lincoln team and external entities.
2. Apply Six Sigma methodologies to improve process management and accuracy within the pellet plant.
3. Enhance standards (target 80% of time) using the QCDM framework; identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions.
4. Support "Maintain the Standard" methodology through coaching problem-solving skills.
5. Act as LSS Kaizen leader/Green belt to deliver productivity improvement projects.
6. Coach and develop the operations team and future potential specialists and process engineers.
7. Optimize training material and validation process with Trainers & MPE Execute team support.
8. Lead and support improvement projects, from minor changes through to Capex justification and commissioning.
9. Own and audit standard settings (IPS & system audits).
10. Foster a Continuous Improvement culture using the QCDM framework and methodology.
11. Own standard work for ZO and GOs within their area of responsibility.
12. Collaborate with the shift leadership team on appropriate problem-solving tools for preventative actions.
13. Work with central BU departments (such as NPD) on line trials, product and packaging development, and equipment improvement activities.
Qualifications
1. Educated to Masters Degree level in a scientific or numerate discipline, or equivalent capability.
2. Proficient in Problem Solving and Lean Six Sigma / DMAIC (Green Belt).
3. Strong data analysis skills and technical/process engineering knowledge with experience in Continuous Improvement.
4. Ability to apply technical knowledge consistently and methodically for problem-solving.
5. Adept at planning complex trials and analyzing collated data.
6. Understanding of production systems with competence in documenting, tracking, and auditing information.
7. Effective coach and facilitator, passionate about developing and training others.
8. Strong interpersonal skills with a cooperative style to build relationships and earn respect.
9. Assertive, independent, and self-sufficient; capable of handling pressure and meeting deadlines.
10. Strategic thinker with skills in action plan development and work stream prioritization.
11. Role model for Safety, Quality, and Food Safety behaviors.
12. Flexible working style to accommodate production area needs.
