An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the GI team at BHRUT. We are looking for registered nurse with an interest in GI, keen to learn and who works well as part of a team. The post-holder will be responsible for providing additional clinical and administrative resource to support BHRUT to deliver the Faster Diagnosis Standard in Upper and Lower GI Cancer, set at 75%, from Q3 2021/22.
The post-holder will perform gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy for the Trust, providing additional diagnostic capacity in order to meet the Faster Diagnostic Standard. The post holder must demonstrate specific skills in disorders of gastrointestinal tract, including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic techniques and subsequent management, in order to undertake assessment, education and counselling wherever appropriate. The post holder will act as a clinical expert and professional resource to the multi-professional team, patients and carers within their specialist service. They will liaise and collaborate with colleagues in the delivery of high quality, clinically effective care, prioritising and utilising evidence based and best practice. They will contribute to the senior management team on service improvement and work in partnership with clinical, nursing, and administrative teams.

Our patients are benefitting from our Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St Georges Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 88,000 scans a year.
