Job overview
Our Logistics Supply Chain Officer will provide a fully managed materials management replenishment service for medical and other consumables used at various locations around Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. They will ensure that all stocks are managed appropriately and cost-effectively, whilst meeting the needs of the end user.
Main duties of the job
* Assist with the location knowledge of new team members and complying with the duties, tasks and responsibilities within the Logistics Supply Chain Assistant role.
* Unload goods vehicles and put stock away accordingly around the Hospital.
* Be responsible for one’s own personal Health and Safety, as the post involves manual handling of possibly heavy items.
* Maintain good working relationships with colleagues, staff and delivery drivers.
* Adhere to quality standards and objectives set within the Logistics Department and participate in the development of new standards as appropriate.
* Provide backup for other Logistics staff in the event of absence or leave, including the Logistics Driver, Unit 7 or the Bunker where appropriate.
* Assist with stock take as directed by Logistics Manager/Supervisors.
* Undertake any duties commensurate with position, and as directed by Logistics Supervisor/Logistics Manager.
* Use Genesis Inventory Management System to receipt and transfer products, carry out stock inquiries and stock take using the technology available.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Work alongside Supervisors/Supply Chain Officers to maintain a programme of stock checks, valuations and stock level authorisations with Ward Managers.
* Inform warehouse management when stock is getting low.
* Workload to be planned and issued by the Logistics Manager or Supervisors.
* Maintain good housekeeping within the warehouse.
* Pick, pack and dispatch orders which are generated from the ordering system and emails.
* Multi-drop to various GP and Community locations throughout the Torbay and South Devon Trust.
* Stock rotation.
* Load and unload deliveries using manual equipment and lifting machinery if trained.
* Collect all empty NHSSC cages/pallets around the Torbay and South Devon Trust and return to the cage compound on Level 1/Unit 7 on a daily basis.
* Complete at least 2 visits to/from Unit 7 to clear any deliveries for the Trust per day.
* Sign for items being dropped off by external couriers.
* Complete weekly vehicle log sheets and hand them to the Logistics Manager.
* If trained, assist with maintaining the forklift.
* Maintain/clean the vehicle to a high standard at all times and report all faults to the Logistics Manager, Supervisor or Transport Department.
* Look after loading equipment and strapping at all times and report faulty/damaged items to Logistics Manager or Supervisors if replacements are required.

Person specification
* Holder of a valid UK driving License.
* Experience in computerised stock control systems.
Qualifications and training
* GCSE Level or equivalent in Maths and English.
* NVQ Level 2 Warehousing and Storage or equivalent experience.
* Holder of a Full Driving Licence with a maximum of 3 points to drive trust vehicles.
* Forklift Truck Licence holder.
Knowledge and experience
* Experience in computerised stock control systems.
* Proven relevant experience of working in a supplies and/or retail environment.
* Conversant with Trust Movement & Manual Handling Policy.
* Knowledge of Trust Procurement System.
* Experience with using Microsoft Excel & Word.
* Familiar with locations of Departments and Wards within Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
