Essex Sexual Health Service (ESHS) is led by Provide Community and commissioned by Essex County Council.
The successful applicant will work as part of the ESHS Outreach and Education Team, focusing on seldom heard from communities in Essex to support the reduction of adverse sexual health outcomes and health inequalities.
Main duties of the job
* Support in the design and delivery of effective health promotion (HP) and behavior change communication (BCC) interventions for Seldom Heard from Communities, including people of African/Caribbean heritage, Commercial Sex Workers (CSW), Men who have sex with men (MSM), and other at-risk groups.
* Deliver community engagement approaches tackling HIV-related stigma and discrimination.
* Increase knowledge and awareness of HIV, promote HIV testing, and highlight the benefits of early diagnosis and access to care.
* Undertake comprehensive training to achieve Assistant Practitioner (AP) competencies for offering HIV point of care testing (POCT).
* Support the wider service delivery across Essex, requiring a valid driving license and access to a car.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Deliver targeted HP/BCC outreach interventions, including HIV & STI testing and health promotion.
* Work closely with seldom heard from communities, tailoring approaches to meet their needs.
* Increase awareness of key sexual health topics through training and community education sessions.
* Achieve competencies to become an Assistant Practitioner, enabling point of care testing in community settings.
* Support educational establishments and professionals in delivering RSHE.
* Work directly with young people at risk of harm or sexual ill health.
* Maintain systems for monitoring and recording HP/BCC interventions.
* Establish relationships with partner agencies and represent ESHS professionally.
* Engage diverse communities through various outreach methods.
* Manage resources for HP/BCC interventions and support volunteer health champions.
* Maintain self-led education relevant to the role.
* Assist with campaigns and events related to sexual health.
* Deliver a condom distribution service to at-risk communities.
* Work flexibly to meet service needs, including evenings and weekends.

Skills
* Clean driving license & access to a car for travel across the county.
Qualifications
* Hold a relevant Health Promotion Qualification.
Experience
* Experience in delivering and evaluating health promotion interventions.
* Experience in delivering education/training to professionals and community groups.
Skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills for communication and relationship building.
* Ability to manage and prioritize workload.
* Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and database entry.
* Good standards of accuracy, numeracy, and literacy.
