Logistics Operative
North Lincolnshire
Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
Salary: £27,635.00, plus Serco Benefits.
Main purpose:
The primary focus of the role is to deliver goods to locations throughout mainland UK and Northern Ireland, driving light commercial vehicles up to and including 7.5 tonne. The post holder is required to deliver/collect a range of items desk side in buildings and must be able to manually handle furniture and archive crates (manual handling equipment is provided).
Serco adheres to the Domestic Driver Rules UK and as a result, the post holder will be required to undertake occasional overnight stops away from their base of operations. The post holder must be numerate and literate and able to accurately complete manifest and vehicle paperwork.
As well as undertaking driving duties, the post holder will be required to assist in our warehouse as and when required by the Logistics Manager. This will involve the limited use of IT systems and operation of a counterbalance forklift truck (for which training will be provided).
The team of Logistics Operatives are responsible for first line maintenance and cleaning of our small fleet of light commercial vehicles, as well as maintenance and cleaning of communal areas of the warehouse.
Having responsibility to report any incidents that occur and being able to escalate this as required. Whilst also using critical decision-making skills and being empowered to do so.

The post holder must be able to attain and retain HM Government SC security clearance.
Main accountabilities:
* Nationwide delivery and collection of consignments as directed by the Logistics Manager.
* Any additional driving duties as required and directed by the Logistics Manager.
* Manual handling of assets, including within the confined space of a vehicle, up to and including furniture and outsized items.
* Administration for the use of company vehicles and movement of consignments.
* First line vehicle maintenance, escalating if required.
* Adhering to the Domestic Driver (UK) and EU driving legislation as appropriate.
* Post holder will be required to undertake occasional overnight stops away from the base of operations as directed by the Logistics Manager
* Provide assistance within our warehouse facility as directed by the Logistics Manager, including the storage and picking of stock and use of counterbalance forklift equipment.
* Undertaking first line maintenance and cleaning of communal areas within the warehouse facility.
* Providing emergency cover to the alarm call out roster as directed by the Logistics Manager.
* Undertake yellow belt training to participate in the Operational Excellence program. Any other duties commensurate with the role, which will assist with the successful delivery of the contracts.
What you will need for the role:
* Must be IT literate and able to use the internal asset management system.
* An understanding of the UK Domestic driver (UK) regulations.
* At least two-year experience in a driving role.
* Experience or understanding of warehouse processes.
* Forklift (Counterbalance) – desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
* Will be required to undertake first aid training and act as site first aider.
Additional features of the role:
* Candidates must be prepared to attain and retain security clearance to HM Government NSV (SC) enhanced level.
* A current, clean UK driving licence is required.
* The role is very process driven and the post holder will be required to comply with all Serco global and local policies.
