Standard Hours (inc shift pattern): 48 hours per week - 06:00 to 16:00 Monday-Thursday and 06:00 to 14:00 Friday
BMI UK&I have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Quality Operator to join our team.
Role Summary
You will take responsibility for checking that products meet required quality standards at plant level and support the Plant Quality Manager to drive a culture of continuous operational improvement throughout the site.
This role is a key interface between the operational team and Plant Management team to ensure a consistent approach and achievement of quality and CI targets. The main purpose of this role is to support the drive for consistent quality at operational level.
As the Quality Operator, your key responsibilities will be:
1. Responsible for undertaking the quality testing of the finished product.
2. Making sure that measuring and testing equipment are set up, calibrated and working correctly.
3. Oversee inspection and testing samples of products according to the test methods and accurately reporting the data on SAP.
4. Ensuring adherence to the quality plan.
5. Identifying nonconformities and faults and reporting correctly in SAP and to the Quality and Production Managers.
6. Undertake weekly audit of the quality areas.
7. Participate and lead as required in process/lean tools and systematic problem solving.
8. Support and training of factory production control including definition and training of all quality documentation, procedures and testing (quality plan, nonconformities, incoming materials, finished goods).
9. Identify areas for improvement within quality.
10. Support plant trials ensuring gathering of trial data, results and control of product.
11. Independent verification of in-process testing and quality gate inspections.
12. Support set up and ensure compliance of Company Quality Standards.
Your key skills and experience will include:
1. Experience as an inspector or quality technician
2. Ability to work alone with minimal supervision
3. High level of visual awareness
4. Advanced organisational skills
5. Competent IT user
6. Experience of SAP PM module (HANNA/S4) - Desirable
7. Experience of working in high volume manufacturing - Desirable
8. Green belt six sigma - Desirable
9. Experience in problem solving techniques (A3, 8D, Ishikawa, 5Why) - Desirable
