The Project Manager will be the sole leader of project management within the company, responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of multiple consumer hardware products, with a particular emphasis on wearable and medical technology. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex projects independently, from concept to market launch, and will be tasked with setting up and refining effective project management processes. They will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, provide strategic leadership, and ensure that all deliverables meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Develop comprehensive project plans that cover scope, schedule, resources, and budget, tailored to meet the specific needs of each project.
Create and maintain detailed project timelines and milestones, ensuring alignment with business objectives and adjusting plans as necessary.
Define project requirements, conduct feasibility and needs assessments, and determine project scope of work.
Manage project budgets, develop cost estimates, and ensure financial efficiency across all projects.
Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor project progress to address any issues or deviations from the plan.
Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders about impacts and alignment.
Facilitate effective communication among team members, stakeholders, and upper management, acting as the key source of information.
Prepare and present project status reports, including performance metrics, risks, issues, and key milestones.
Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements, especially within the medical technology sector when necessary.
Implement quality control processes, conduct post-project evaluations, and document lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Participate in regulatory affairs activities as necessary, ensuring adherence to relevant industry standards and compliance requirements.
Establish and maintain a unified project management structure across the organization, setting up best practices tailored to the unique challenges of hardware product development.
Continuously assess and improve the project management framework, making adjustments as necessary to adapt to the evolving needs of the business.
Provide strategic input to senior management, influencing the direction of product development and aligning project goals with the broader business strategy.
Provide strategic direction and leadership to sub-teams, ensuring alignment with the overall technical strategy and project goals.
Support the team with technical writing for product specifications, certifications, and internal regulatory compliance.
Share expertise and mentor junior staff or cross-train other employees in project management principles, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Report directly to senior management or the CEO, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.
Ensure high visibility of project performance, as the success of these projects will have a significant impact on the company’s growth and success.
Adapt to the evolving role as the organization grows, potentially taking on additional responsibilities or helping to onboard and mentor future project management staff.
You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
You have a PRINCE2 or similar project management certification is essential.
You have 5+ years of experience in project management, with a strong emphasis on consumer hardware product development, particularly in wearables and/or medical technology.
You have proven experience in managing complex projects independently, from concept to market launch.
In-depth knowledge of both software and hardware development processes, with the ability to direct technical projects effectively.
Strong leadership and team management skills, capable of guiding sub-teams and ensuring successful project outcomes.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to managing projects and resolving challenges.
Ability to analyze and optimize project performance, including calculating ROI.
Experience in preparing and co-facilitating training materials and sessions.
