Wood have a fantastic opportunity for a Project Director to join our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team in Scotland to provide strategic leadership in the efficient execution of one or more major framework projects in the UK T&D sector. The successful candidate will be based initially in our Glasgow or Aberdeen office but will be required to travel to site and client/Wood offices as necessary. We will also consider a hybrid working model for the right candidate. The Role We are seeking a driven and committed individual to provide strategic leadership in the efficient execution of major framework projects within the UK Transmission and Distribution sector. The successful candidate will ensure these projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. They will foster a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across all project phases, build strong relationships, and ensure effective communication. Additionally, they will optimise budgets, implement cost controls with appropriate reporting and governance, proactively identify and mitigate risks with contingency plans, and mentor and develop high-performing teams. Expected: University degree (bachelors or masters) in relevant discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience. Project Management Professional (PMP), Associate in Project Management (APM) or equivalent certification is preferred Ideally in-depth knowledge of the Transmission and Distribution sector, particularly in new build projects Familiarity with UK regulations and standards related to energy and infrastructure projects Understanding of financial management and budget control in large-scale projects Ideally has considerable experience in project management in a senior leadership role within the Transmission and Distribution sector, or projects for UK transmission operators, or in a similar energy related sector. Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects, ideally in the power sector, on time and within budget Familiar with Risk Management processes, well versed in how risks are transposed into cost, time and contingency estimates and forecasts Able to manage phased and/or complex major project start-up, work with the SPM/PM/CM to produce and communicate the project execution plan Strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to inspire teams Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented mindset Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement Able to generate and appraise options, make decisions and follow through with agreed action
