About the role:
This is a full-time on-site role for a Maintenace Engineer. The Engineer will be responsible for day -to-day tasks including equipment breakdown repairs and performing planned maintenance both mechanical and electrical.
The ideal candidate will have an electrical bias with good electrical controls skills. Plastic extrusion or industrial manufacturing experience would be an advantage.
The role would initially be a day shift, but flexibility is needed for working an afternoon / evening shift if required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluating machinery and making recommendations for improvements
Coordinating maintenance and repair services to keep production equipment operational
Assist with spare part stock control
Inspecting machinery and reporting any faults to management and SHEQ manager.
Identifying faults and troubleshooting wherever possible.
Implementing and improving preventative maintenance methods and procedures.
Conducting frequent quality checks on equipment to ensure no maintenance is required
Keeping a record of preventive and emergency maintenance carried out
Carrying out PPM tasks to all machinery
Maintenance and testing of electrical equipment to include PAT testing, Fire alarms & emergency light testing
Creating Safe Operating procedures
Overhauling and replacing parts according to schedule
Helping to improve and implement electrical H&S to include LOTO
Ensuring the organisation complies with safety regulations while maintenance takes place
Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns
Fixing faults or arranging for replacements to be installed
Keeping the production manager and engineering manager informed of progress
Any other reasonable request
About you:
Electrical qualification - NVQ level 3 or equivalent
IEE 18th edition wiring regulations certification would be beneficial
Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and requirements.
Working as part of a team
Be a highly motivated worker
Strong communication skills both written and verbally
Flexibility in working hours to assist with projects and breakdowns.
Knowledge of industrial machinery to include PLC, 3 phase systems, control systems, motors and drives would be beneficial
Good fault-finding skills
Knowledge of installation of electrical circuits and equipment and current guidance.
Basic IT literacy to include Microsoft Excel & Word
A degree of multiskilling to assist with mechanical work (30% bias towards Mechanical skills)
