Applications are invited for a Band 3 housekeeper to work in our busy mental health inpatient service based at Wesham Rehabilitation centre to provide support to ward managers in the running of the unit.
This includes working closely with contractors and estates to maintain upkeep of the building. Monitor quality standards to support safe infection prevention control standards, ensuring cleanliness standards are upheld. Complete vital safety checks to support welfare of service users. Ordering required stock to ensure delivery of care.
The post holder will work as an integral part of the Ward team and will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities/services in the in-patient area and for ensuring a safe, clean and comfortable environment.
The main element of the role is to support ward managers in the running of the unit, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs, as determined by the Ward Manager/Deputy Ward Manager or Nurse in Charge.
The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors and Estates & Facilities departments and will monitor quality standards and rectify deficiencies in liaison with the Ward Managers.

• To receive, welcome and guide visitors on arrival to the unit, liaising with other staff as appropriate
• To respond to requests for general information from patients and visitors
• To respect the privacy and dignity of patients whilst carrying out housekeeping duties
• To maintain complete confidentiality with regard to all patient issues
• To assist people with accessing and interpreting written information, e.g. cards and letters
• To communicate effectively with people
• To act as an initial point of contact for ward managers
• To keep the modern matron and service manager informed of any issues relating to the housekeeping role
• To liaise and work alongside estates and facilities and other external contractors
• To ensure all food safety checks are in place and documented
• To ensure there is enough clean linen to meet the needs of the patients and the quality of linen available meets the Trust standards and is suitable for use
• Co-ordinate routine and enhanced cleaning with wards domestic staff as identified
• To ensure the safe storage and decontamination of equipment
• To ensure own actions reduce risk to health and safety and to promote a health and safety culture within the workplace
• Ensuring compliance with fridge temperature monitoring and ensuring food kept in ward fridges are appropriate, in date and removed at expiry
• Supporting with the completion of menu ordering (Liaising with service users so they can choose which meal they want from the menu)
