Required September 2025
Class Teacher
The Brier School is a successful, all-age school that serves pupils with complex learning needs. The school’s designation is ‘moderate learning difficulties’. Pupils entering The Brier School over the last few years have increased in complexity.
We are looking to appoint an outstanding, creative and resilient teacher to inspire our pupils to make sustained progress, both academically and emotionally at The Brier sites. The ability to teach an ambitious but meaningful curriculum to pupils with a variety of complex communication and learning needs is essential.
The flexibility and a willingness to teach in all key stages through a primary style curriculum is an advantage due to the school catering for SEND pupils aged 4-16.
A strong team player is needed, alongside a willingness to learn, embed and further develop specialist skills including Makaton, Team Teach, PECS, and Colourful Semantics within daily teaching.
The post is a full-time, permanent position.
Owing to the nature of the post and vulnerability of the children, the post will be subject to an enhanced criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service and other pre-employment checks. The Brier School takes safeguarding seriously. We are an equal opportunities employer.
Please apply through Tripad.
For additional information please contact Rebecca Magher at 01384 816000.
Closing Date: April 29th, 2025, 9am
Interviews: to take place within the week commencing 6th May.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children; therefore, the post is subject to medical clearance and an enhanced DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
All applicants must be able to provide documentation to prove their right to work in the UK.
Please note: Dudley MBC does not currently offer sponsorship for candidates without the Right to Work in the UK.
Effective from September 2022, KCSIE states as part of the shortlisting process schools and colleges should consider carrying out online searches, as part of the due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This is to determine suitability to work with children and keep them safe. All shortlisted candidates are now subject to an online check and if there is anything concerning, then the shortlisted candidate will be asked to comment on it either prior to or at interview.
N.B., We reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the advertised date should we receive a large number of applications.
