We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic IT and IG lead for our Practice. The post-holder will support us in developing the use of IT and our clinical system (SystmOne) to enable it to meet national and local targets, maximise income and improve patient care. You will need to be self-motivated, flexible and with a passion for quality improvement, using technology to achieve this.
You will lead on ensuring the Practice meets all Information Governance and Data Quality standards relevant to primary care.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with the business manager and lead the GP partner in IT to support the practice's growth strategy.
Job Responsibilities
Lead on innovation and the best use of IT and the SystmOne clinical system to benefit the Practice. Identifying new technology, products, suppliers and services that, through a cost/benefit analysis, could improve the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of our existing and new services.
Develop and maintain expert knowledge of the SystmOne clinical system products and other software suppliers (Ardens, PATCHs, e-consult, TeamNet), which are relevant to the development of the Practice, making recommendations as appropriate.
Build searches and extract data for service improvement, internal and external reporting and quality improvement, e.g. vaccination programmes.
Create and provide ongoing management of templates, protocols and SystmOne alerts for the Practice.
To develop, maintain and update the Practice website.
Provide upskilling training to the Practice staff on the use of information systems.
Lead the analysis of datasets from information systems and data provided by internal and external sources to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the practice.
To build a working relationship with the NHS IT system provider (currently The Health Informatics Service THIS) to maximise the benefit of the service for the Practice.
To develop robust IT business continuity plans, working with the NHS IT system provider to minimise disruption to the Practice should an NHS IT failure occur. To put in place operational plans to ensure the Practice maintains an operational service to our patients despite the IT failure, using safe, secure and appropriate IT bypass procedures.
To be responsible for ensuring that all IT-related standard operating procedures are documented, reviewed appropriately, communicated, and are all being adhered to. Put in place improvement plans to address any non-compliance.
Support the installation and configuration of hardware and software within the Practice.
Maximising internal systems to ensure robust delivery of services such as Wi-Fi, telephone systems, and mobile devices.
To be the main contact for coordinating all IT issues within the Practice.
Information Governance/Data Quality
To lead in ensuring best practices in Information Governance.
To work closely with the ICB, Data Protection Officer (DPO)/Information Governance (IG) Lead, to ensure that all requirements in line with technical, cyber and physical security standards are delivered and maintained to the highest standards whilst complying with best practices.
Undertaking the range of tasks required or advised under GDPR/by the ICO/National Data Security and Protection Toolkit, such as data mapping, reporting data breaches, compiling retention schedules, compliance audits, etc.
Managing and overseeing agreements with third-party organisations to ensure our data is protected appropriately, as well as the ongoing suitability of third-party suppliers and compliance.
Ensuring data sharing agreements are in place with third parties.
Identifying training needs and regular staff updates.
Maintenance of an organisation training matrix.
To ensure compliance with the Data Protection Security Toolkit around Data requirements and develop action plans to address any non-compliance.
To have knowledge and experience in maintaining records to CQC standards.
