The Surgical Services Management Team is looking to appoint two Surgical Support Coordinators to support the provision of high-quality patient care through dedicated administrative and clerical support and continuous improvement.
These two additional posts will join a team of three Coordinators and three Support Coordinators. The post holders will be the point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues relating to patients’ pathway of care, tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment and discharge.
The post holders will provide a patient-focused service that supports the Surgical Coordinators and clinical staff in the provision of efficient integrated pathways that enable the best use of resources and ensure that patients are fit, willing, and able to be treated in the right place, by the right person, at the right time.
Specialties covered within the team are Breast, Bariatric, Endoscopy, Gastroenterology, Colorectal, Upper GI, Urology, and Vascular. The post holders will provide cross-cover for other team members and actively participate in the sharing of skills and experience within the team, aiding the spread of good practice throughout the team.

Main duties of the job
* Demonstrate advanced communication and organisational skills, use initiative, and show problem-solving skills.
* Exhibit excellent attention to detail and a passion for patient care.
* Ensure efficient and effective use of the theatre and endoscopy sessions.
* Play a central role within this service and work in close liaison with NHS colleagues, patients, and the general public.
* Manage waiting lists in accordance with the Patient Access Policy and achieve government and JAG waiting time standards.
* Be responsible for the addition and removal from waiting lists and recording of all relevant patient information. This may be in response to clinician, patient, or management requests.
* Monitor the Patient Target List (PTL) daily to ensure government access standards are not breached and escalate any potential breaches, taking appropriate action to resolve capacity issues and informing the Assistant Operations Manager.
* Manage waiting lists for patients on the cancer pathway who require endoscopy procedures and/or further surveillance appointments.
