Join our dynamic Patient Services team at Denmark Hill! We’re looking for a dedicated Practice Development Pharmacy Technician who is passionate about enhancing pharmacy practice and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Demonstrate expert knowledge in all aspects of Patient Services and Pharmacy Practice, working in Patient Services on designated days.
* Collaborate with the Patient Services Team to deliver high-quality education and training on local policies, procedures, and safety initiatives, while supporting the implementation of system changes.
* Proactively train pharmacy staff on-the-job and conduct training needs analysis to identify priority areas for ongoing educational support within the Operations team.
* Lead the continuous education, training, and professional development of staff, promoting the acquisition of new skills, knowledge, and competencies.
* Act as an autonomous professional practitioner and role model within the department.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* To be responsible for the education and development of all Pharmacy staff in practice supporting on-the-job training and practice development.
* To work with the Patient Services Team to develop and maintain orientation packages for new staff and be responsible for their orientation to the dispensary and department.
* To support with reviewing and writing Patient Services SOPs as required.
* To lead the continuing education, training and professional development of staff continuously promoting the acquisition of new skills, knowledge and competence in Patient Services and the wider department.
* To liaise with the Patient Services Team to identify how best training and development can be utilised to meet service needs and manage risk.
* To contribute to an environment in which effective practice is fostered, implemented, evaluated and disseminated through a range of approaches.
* To propose, contribute to, and participate in, pharmacy service developments and quality improvement projects in line with departmental and Trust priorities.
* To develop and maintain accurate training records and produce reports as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To ensure all work carried is carried out in accordance with departmental policies and with due regard to good dispensing practices, cleanliness and tidiness.
* To develop, implement, monitor and evaluate policies and guidelines.
* To supervise other Pharmacy staff in undertaking audit projects.
* To be aware of research and developments in the field of Pharmacy practice and Patient Services.
* To utilise and evaluate tools to audit education, training and professional practice within Pharmacy.
* To undertake own research and publish practice research in Pharmacy Training & Development.
* To present the results and outcomes of own research and audits locally, nationally or internationally as appropriate.
Person specification
Experience
* Significant experience of working in a Pharmacy (community or hospital)
* Experience of research and audit work
* Knowledge of procedures for dispensary services
* Knowledge of current roles and training requirements of Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians workforce
* Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
Qualifications
* Recognised GPhC accredited Level 3 Pharmacy Technician qualification or equivalent
* Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Practice Supervisor Training or equivalent experience
* Educational Supervisor Training (Propharmace)
* Previous experience of co-ordinating NVQ Level 2 award
* Member of APTUK
