Job summary – What to expect:
Are you ready to make a difference in the world of eye care? We are looking for Production Operators to join our diverse teams around Southampton area who are focused on the production of contact lenses. In this role, you will work to maintain and exceed our high manufacturing and quality standards.
Additionally, you will:
* Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
* Operate machinery safely in accordance with H&S regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and Company Work instructions.
* Record Production data in accordance with company procedures and SOP’s as directed from time to time.
* Handle and process lenses.
* Conduct quality inspections to the highest standard in accordance with company procedures.
* Maintain operational/business unit housekeeping.
About you:
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, good English communication skills, and the ability to handle repetitive tasks effectively.
Experience & Education:
* Good communication skills with the ability to communicate well with all team members including line managers and support operations in English.
* Understanding and adherence to Health and Safety and quality procedures.
* Observant to any changes on the line and prepared to take effective action to overcome minor issues and use a ‘hands-on’ approach to solve problems in a timely manner.
* Proactive in matters relating to continuous improvement to meet business requirements.
* Flexibility to work on a variety of tasks and willingness to learn new skills on multiple lines and different business areas, including Hamble and Chandlers Ford when needed.
* Able to handle repetitive work and ensure consistency of work standards.
Work environment:
* The post holder works within a demanding, yet informal, English speaking inclusive environment where there is an ongoing expectation and responsibility to maximize productivity time and levels to ensure targets are met.
* The immediate work area is open plan with lots of moving equipment and team members in close proximity.
* Controlled manufacturing environment with a clean room area; gowning procedure required (e.g. all hair covered, legs covered, no make-up and no heels).
* The work, over a 12-hour shift, is physically demanding and a significant proportion of the shift will require standing.
* Some work areas have a high level of noise. Where this is above prescribed limits, PPE is supplied and must be worn.
* In some roles, you may be required to handle chemicals. Full PPE and training will be provided.
* Mandatory annual surveillance health checks will be required.
* Teamwork will be required, under the supervision of a Team Leader/Shift Leader.
