About Wigan Cares
On 1 March 2022, Bolton Cares officially welcomed Wigan Cares into its family after securing a contract to deliver two Extra Care Housing schemes in Wigan. This followed Bolton Cares’ entry into Wigan in 2021, when they won contracts to run Supported Living and Extra Care Housing services in the Goose Green, Pemberton, and Worsley Mesnes areas of Wigan. Through this expansion, Bolton Cares also welcomed new colleagues into the organization.
Operating under the Wigan Cares name, these services provide 24-hour, person-centred care seven days a week for tenants in Supported Living houses and flats, as well as for those living in Extra Care housing from 1 April 2022. The contracts were awarded to Bolton Cares due to its passion for delivering innovative, high-quality care and its commitment to partnership working.
Across Bolton, Salford, and Wigan, Bolton Cares supports over 1,000 people from diverse communities, employing more than 600 dedicated colleagues who work across over 50 locations and hundreds of homes. Duties
Duties will vary but an average working week will include you:
* Participating in 7-day rota with early and late finishes
* Working a shift pattern and providing an overnight presence
* Undertaking personal care tasks, supporting people to manage in their own homes, supporting people with their medication and maintaining social care records.
We need you to:
* Carry out a variety of support tasks and be active in your role; on a typical day you might find yourself providing personal care in the morning and taking someone cycling / swimming in the afternoon or to an event in the evenings. The people we support in Wigan have active lives within their community and we expect our staff to support this to continue.
* Work from a variety of locations to meet service need as required.
* Be flexible, and confident interacting with people from all walks of life.
* Treat people with compassion and care, showing dignity and respect to the people you support.
* Build rapport quickly and work with a wide range of support needs.
As part of a team, you will be supporting people with a wide range of care and support needs including individuals with age related diagnosis, learning disability, autistic spectrum condition, and Mental Health diagnoses. Some individuals also have significant physical health and personal care needs.
The service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and you will work on a rota which includes weekends and bank holidays.
Experience and skills required:
Must have experience supporting adults within a social care setting. Experience of supporting individuals with complex needs would be preferred.
Ability to develop supportive relationships, promoting independence and wellbeing.
Ability to use a computer and be IT literate.
You will be highly motivated to deliver outstanding care and support.
Have the ability to work in in a person-centred way.
