We are looking for dynamic, flexible and professional nurses to join our friendly and diverse, JAG accredited Endoscopy team.
Come and join this motivated and productive team in Endoscopy if you are considering a challenging career in a nursing specialty. This is a rapidly expanding service with a workforce that is patient focused. We are a very busy unit, performing outpatient diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and front-line emergency procedures for sedated and unsedated patients across six procedure rooms, plus our on-site mobile unit. Procedures include OGD, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS, ERCP, stenting, and dilatation. We also cover emergency procedures via a mandatory out-of-hours emergency on-call service, which you will be part of once competent.
Our current working hours are Monday to Sunday, including late shifts, plus participation in our 24-hour mandatory on-call rota.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for providing specialised care to meet the needs of patients undergoing Endoscopic procedures.
You will be expected to be flexible, work in all Endoscopic areas, which includes moving patient beds and Endoscopy equipment around the whole hospital site, standing for long periods, working in low-light conditions, and wearing appropriate PPE including lead aprons, which can be physically and mentally demanding.
Your role will be to access, plan, implement, evaluate, holistic, high quality and individualised care which respects our patients personal dignity and beliefs whilst maintaining a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff and promoting effective communication within the care team and with colleagues, patients, relatives and visitors.
You will monitor standards of nursing care, privacy and dignity, and take appropriate action to maintain and improve.
You will maintain high standards of care and safe practice within the endoscopy suite for patients undergoing procedures, with appropriate documentation of care.
You will work as part of a team adhering to national and local policies, guidelines and procedures assisting your senior staff with service development and the overall implementation of relevant policies within the department. You will adhere to the NMC Code of professional practice and commit to continuing professional development.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* *Evidence of professional and clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree/diploma level leading to Professional registration on the appropriate part of the NMC register i.e. ( Adult / Child / Learning Disability or Mental Health)
* *Evidence of undergraduate education for newly qualified nurses / or post graduate continuing professional development for registered nurses who have post registration experience
Experience
* *Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary health and care setting (can include undergraduate student placements within the last 12 months)
* *Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
* *Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct and the proficiencies and standards for registered nurses can apply this to undergraduate training or post graduate practice
* *Being an accountable professional
* *Promoting health and preventing ill health
* *Assessing needs and planning care
* *Providing and evaluating care
* *Leading and managing nursing care and working in teams -- including prioritisation and delegation skills
* *Coordinating care and responding to deteriorating health

* *Competent in managing the care of a group of patients / shift management (take charge of the practice setting in the absence of more senior staff) relevant to the practise setting.
