Senior Project Engineering Vacancy
Elevations Technical Division are working with a global engineering solutions provider based in East Yorkshire on a specialist Senior Project Engineering vacancy to further strengthen their growing technical division.
The Projects department is a small department responsible for delivering the company's Capital projects schemes. These can vary from multi-million pound plants to small £10K works. The engineering is varied from heavy industrial work to smaller automated equipment supporting a heavy processing operation site wide.
You will act as the Project lead from conception to handover in relation to planned projects or urgent/emergency works. This involves coming up with robust, technically correct, and H&S conforming concepts and/or solutions.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
1. Management of the delivery of any assigned project activities to time, cost, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Carry out feasibility studies and the compilation of budget estimates for possible new plant.
3. Assess the requirements for project work prior to tendering in relation to Health and Safety requirements, quality, and resources for the works package.
4. Ensure any Preconstruction information is accurate and approved by the Principal Designer prior to sending tendering packs.
5. Maintain project records, ensuring all relevant information is collated into an O&M manual for the works.
6. Update PIDs when new plant and controls are installed.
7. Ensure all records are in accordance with ISO 9001.
8. Liaise with designers, fabricators, erectors, suppliers, wholesalers, and distributors to obtain plant/equipment quotations that meet statutory requirements and objectives.
9. Deputise for the Project Manager in times of absence.
10. Mentor Junior Project Engineers when working with them and aid in their development.
11. Check specifications proposed by suppliers to ensure they are working within the contract in relation to health, safety, and environmental legislation; design and project specification.
12. Ensure that good housekeeping practices are always adhered to within the project works.
13. Become technical experts for the site or Appointed persons for disciplines which suit the post holder's experience and qualifications.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. HNC in either Electrical, Mechanical or Project Engineering.
2. Time served apprenticeship in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
3. Excellent understanding of current statutory regulations & guidance (LOLER, PUWER, Working At Height, Confined Spaces, EAWR, etc.).
4. Leading capital projects and large Maintenance refurbishments of Heavy industrial plant.
5. Management experience dealing with the control and management of Contractors in a contractual environment including contract labour.
6. Ability to understand and control budgets.
7. Proficient in Autocad dwg skills and able to produce P&IDs and schematics.
8. Computer literate, with a good working knowledge of MS office packages.
