Programme Manager

Summary
Our client, a leading utilities organisation, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Programme Manager to join their Programme Delivery team within the Transformation and Major Projects division. As a Programme Manager, you will be part of a flexible central pool of Programme and Project professionals, providing support for major deliveries across NESO.
The successful candidate will be assigned to a programme in the NESO portfolio, responsible for supporting its initiation or path back to green. These postings typically last for a period of 6 to 9 months. Your role will encompass all aspects of programme management, including Planning, Risks, Dependencies, and Reporting. Flexibility and adaptability in work assignments will be crucial.
This position is available for full-time or part-time applicants, with flexibility in working arrangements including hybrid work options. You can choose to be based in Wokingham or Warwick.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Preparation and maintenance of the Programme Plan, providing regular progress reports
2. Designing and leading the programme's governance arrangements, ensuring high-quality materials for programme and executive governance
3. Managing the programme's budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits
4. Allocating skills and resources to individual workstreams
5. Ensuring delivery of products and services meet the required standards of quality, time, and budget
6. Managing communications with stakeholders and contributing to the Communications Plan
7. Managing dependencies and interfaces between projects
8. Identifying and managing risks and issues at a programme level, collaborating closely with third-party partners, the IT team, and other key stakeholders
9. Overseeing the holistic delivery of business change, including changes to people, processes, and technology
10. Managing an effective Programme Management Office
11. Reporting programme progress at regular intervals
12. Acting as the first point of escalation for Contract Management of the primary third-party delivery partner
About You:
1. Proven experience delivering transformational change in strategically focused projects
2. Experience delivering change in operationally critical environments
3. Familiarity with both waterfall and agile methodologies
4. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
5. Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling programmes
6. Proficiency in budgeting and resource allocation procedures
7. Ability to work with and challenge senior executive stakeholders when required
