Salary: £44,208 - £50,424 per annum
Grade: F
Permanent Contract
37 Hours per Week
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Adult Safeguarding Team. We are looking for a social worker with 2 years post qualifying experience in Adults Social Care to work in this highly skilled team as a Senior Practitioner and Best Interests Assessor (or willing to undertake this training). You will be working with Adults who have been referred to the team due to concerns about safeguarding. You will be expected to cover safeguarding duty; complete initial information gathering and signpost when concerns are received; complete s42 safeguarding enquiries; participate in safeguarding strategy meetings; and complete Best Interests Assessments under DOLS (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards) (once qualified as a BIA). You will work closely with colleagues in other departments and wider agencies in order to safeguard vulnerable adults.
The team is busy, but every case is different, and you will be able to draw on a wealth of knowledge and experience from your safeguarding team members, as well as our wider teams. We have adopted the Community Led Support Approach, and all our teams work as one big team, in a person-centred way, with the focus being on building on the strengths of the person and the community around them. Working from home or our community hubs and flexible working is encouraged and supported; this is definitely not an office job, and we guarantee that you will enjoy this innovative way of working!
Adult Social Care at Thurrock Council has so much to offer you, and we look forward to see what you can offer Adult Social Care.
The post will be 37 hours per week on a permanent contract. We currently offer a retention allowance for those who successfully complete their probation period and remain in employment with us. Other employee benefits are available and can be discussed further at your interview. For an informal discussion please call Dianne Ryan on 07872 009981 or Elmari Bishop on 07872 009804.
Please note - we will only accept fully completed applications forms, which includes full education and work history. Your personal statement needs to evidence that you meet the essential skills, knowledge and experience as set out in the job description. You MUST have the following:
- A social work qualification;
- Current registration with Social Work England;
- 2 years post qualifying experience as a Social Worker in Adult Social Care; and
- Evidence of post graduate qualifications (e.g. Practice Assessor, AMHP or BIA training) to be considered for an interview.
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an Enhanced level with Adults Barred List is required for this role.
