We are looking for an experienced and motivated Pilotage Operations Manager to join our Cardiff team, overseeing critical operations that ensure the safe and efficient movement of vessels through our waters.
The Role
As the Pilotage Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing pilotage services at Cardiff and the surrounding ports, ensuring the smooth and safe navigation of vessels. You will oversee a team of skilled professionals, maintain compliance with maritime regulations, and contribute to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage pilotage operations, ensuring all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
2. Lead and support a team of marine pilots and operational staff, promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
3. Liaise with customers, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to maintain effective communication and collaboration.
4. Optimise pilotage schedules and resources to meet operational demands.
5. Monitor performance, provide regular reporting, and identify opportunities for improvement.
6. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant maritime regulations and best practices.
What We’re Looking For
1. Proven experience in maritime operations, pilotage, or a related field, with strong knowledge of port and shipping practices.
2. Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and manage a team in a dynamic environment.
3. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex operational challenges.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
5. Detailed understanding of UK maritime regulations and safety standards.
6. Relevant qualifications in maritime operations, such as STCW certifications or equivalent.
