Assistant Team Manager - Colorectal and Urology Team

To be a professional role model, leading and coordinating the theatre and department team. This involves managing a wide range of complex and sometimes conflicting priorities for colorectal and urology surgery.
* Provide sound clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for the team, theatre/department and Trust wide.
* Provide specialist perioperative advice Trust wide to support and facilitate high quality, individualized care to patients/clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi-professional team, in line with local and national targets.
* Ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the center of care delivery.
* Be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any specified area.
* Support the Team Manager in delivering the needs of the team/service.
Main Duties of the Job
Provide sound clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice within the theatre/department and Trust wide.
Maintain and promote effective communication with the team and all members of the multi-disciplinary team and other departments. Communication will take place using formal and informal methods, including formal presentation of information relating to your Theatre/department.
Demonstrate politeness, courtesy, and sensitivity in dealing with patients/clients, visitors/relatives, and colleagues, maintaining good customer relations.
Participate in the Trust's organizational development plans to transform the hospital to meet future needs; this will include upholding the shared values.
Promote the corporate image of The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust to all individuals, groups, and organizations both within the Trust and to the community at large.
Using specialized knowledge, ensure the clinical needs of patients are met. Communicate with patients, carers, and the wider multi-disciplinary team, acknowledging barriers to communication and understanding.
Be able to scrub/supervise for colorectal and urology surgical procedures.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programmes of care, actively seeking evidence-based practice to support clinical outcomes as appropriate.

Person Specification
* Registered General Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
* Experience within colorectal and urology surgery.
* Leadership skills to manage an operating list and the operating department.
* Mentoring/teaching/supporting the personal and professional growth of the theatre workforce.
