SEMH Teaching Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join our team on a supply basis. In this vital role, you will support students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome challenges and thrive in a safe and supportive learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students facing emotional and behavioural barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with SEMH needs on a one-to-one or small group basis, both in and outside the classroom.
Assist in managing behaviour and providing emotional support to students throughout the school day.
Help students engage with lessons, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs.
Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor student progress and adapt support strategies.
Encourage positive social interactions and promote emotional well-being.
Ensure a safe, calm, and supportive environment for students to learn and grow.
Key Requirements:
Experience working with students with SEMH or behavioural challenges is highly desirable.
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
The ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent) would be beneficial.
