Responsible for managing all financial transactions within a law firm, the Legal Cashier will be ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules and maintaining accurate financial records. This role is part time 15-20 hours per week across 3-4 days.

Key Responsibilities:
Processing client account payments and receipts in accordance with SRA Accounts Rules.
Ensuring client money is handled correctly and transferred according to legal guidelines.
Monitoring and reconciling client ledgers and accounts regularly.
Managing the firm's office accounts, including daily banking transactions, payments, and receipts.
Processing and reconciling office disbursements, including invoices from barristers, experts, and other third parties.
Maintaining accurate records of VAT, preparing and submitting VAT returns.
Completing monthly bank reconciliations for all client and office accounts.
Investigating discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution.
Assisting with the preparation and distribution of client bills.
Ensuring that bills are processed and paid on time.
Assisting with managing aged debtors and chasing overdue payments when necessary.
Ensuring the firm adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements, especially the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
Assisting with internal and external audits.
Keeping up to date with changes in financial regulations affecting law firms.
Liaising with banks and financial institutions as required.
Managing supplier payments and ensuring all costs are tracked and approved.
Adhering to the firms' systems and procedures.
Adhering to compliance policies.
To undertake such other reasonable additional duties as are consistent with this from time to time.
Experience and Skills Requirements:
Able to manage time effectively and manage competing priorities.
Experience of working in an office environment.
Commitment to client care and proving high levels of service.
Knowledge of annual audit and inspection process.
Proficiency with double-entry bookkeeping.
Knowledge of maintaining client and office accounts.
Knowledge and understanding of the SRA Accounts Rules.
Ability to understand and complete VAT returns.
Competent IT skills to include Microsoft Office programmes.
A general awareness of the legal market.
