The role of the Medical Administrator is a unique role, combining both reception and secretarial duties, alongside more complex tasks.
A Medical Administrator performs a combination of reception and clerical/administration work in a customer-focused role. The post-holder will be part of a team of Medical Administrators who together ensure the smooth operation of telephony and back-office functions of a busy GP surgery. The post-holder will need excellent communication skills and be expert in managing difficult people, readily able to diffuse situations that may lead to conflict. The post-holder is a calm and organised individual, able to multi-task in a busy working environment. The post-holder is a team player who is also able to work autonomously without the need for close supervision.

Providing reception and administrative service for patients and visitors to the practice on the telephone and in person.
About us
The surgery has a current list size of 10,000 patients. The practice team consists of 4 GP Partners, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and a number of attached staff that enable us to offer the best treatment possible to our patients. Our surgery is within Redcar Primary Care Hospital which offers a number of outpatient appointments from various secondary care consultants. The hospital has an onsite Pharmacy, Urgent Treatment Centre, X-ray department, Ultrasound, and CT scanners.

Duration: Permanent, subject to three months probationary period
Location: The Green House Surgery, Redcar Primary Care Hospital, Redcar
Job purpose: Providing a reception and administrative service for patients and visitors to the practice on the telephone and in person.
Dimensions: The post holder will have receptionist and administrative responsibilities.

* GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English
* NVQ accreditations

Salary: £11.44 an hour to increase to £12.21 in April
